IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

brought to us by Book Journey

what i read:

I HAVE FINISHED NOTHING!!   And I can't even give you a good reason.  I don't remember why I didn't read much this week.  It's one of those strange, unaccountable weeks that happens over here now and then.

what i am reading:

So, I'm still reading the same two from last week.

Please stop by on Friday, October 5th for my review of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian as part of banned book week.  It is part heart wrenching and part inspiring - the perfect blend of writing.  I cannot imagine why someone would not let their teenager read this book.

I will be giving away a $20.00 gift certificate to Amazon so that you can buy your own banned book.

what i am reading next:

I have actually dipped into this one.  Unfortunately, I experienced a brain thumping headache last week and coincidentally, the first chapter starts with the unfortunate circumstances of man with a brain thumping headache.  The coincidence was chilling and I thought it best to put this one aside until I felt better.  I feel better now and look for my review next week.

Enjoy your week!

  1. I'm envious of the Rowling book you've got hold of! it will take such a long time to come to this part of the world (at a reasonable price).

    1. Mystica: I often wonder about that when I dream of faraway places! I always tell my friends, I can only go where the UPS driver can find me.

  2. I have the Rowling book on my kindle ready to go. I'm not sure if I should read some reviews first or not, I don't want my judgment clouded...

    1. I'm staying away from the reviews, but based on the first chapter, I know that the writing will be good.

  3. That would have definitely freaked me out too! I am glad you feel better, I hate headaches like that.

I am really excited to read your review of Casual Vacancy - I am not sure about this book yet, and I know I can trust your opinions. I might just be reluctant to move away from Harry Potter, I think back to when I started reading them, and am amazed at how long ago that was and how different my life is now.

    1. I don't know how old you are but I think you may have been a mere baby when those Harry books came out!

  4. Hi Belle. You have some great looking books. I'm looking forward to your reviews. I didn't finish any books in the month of August. Finally, I've been reading in September, and I'm trying to go back to that pile of books with bookmarks at pages 104, 57, 31.

  5. Back to The Moonstone, a little over 1/3 of the way into it. I don't know why I am having so much trouble, but if you say it is worth it, I will continue on!

  11. It is funny that you have mentioned that you have not finished anything this week. I am really enjoying the books that I am reading. They are however taking me FOREVER! They are long books and I cannot seem to sit down to read for what I consider to be a good length of time. I am indeed a little frustrated.

    1. That's precisely how I felt last week! I just finished one now and maybe I'm back on the right track.

  12. Enjoy your books. I have no immediate plans to read Rowling's latest.

My favorite book this week was Dr. Seuss: The Cat Behind the Hat by Caroline W. Smith. Please come see what I'm reading now.

  13. Son of Solomon was one of the stand-out books from a 20thC Lit course I took for my BA, one of those books that you don't realise has gripped you until the end - magical.

I picked up the Rowling book the other day in a shop and just flicked through a few pages - it didn't inspire me to want to read it, the writing seemed 'clunky'.

    Have a great reading week.

  14. I've diaried to check your review on Friday. :-) I do hope your headache is gone. Not sure I am interested in this Rowling title.
It's hard for me to imagine a week when I don't finish a book or two... it's been a long time. Part of that is because I have kept up a (too) busy schedule.
Hope this week is good to you.

  18. Interested to know your thoughts on The Casual Vacancy. I had it on my wish list but having read more about it have decided that though I probably will read it I don't think I'll be buying a copy preferring to wait until our library has a copy.
