IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

brought to us by Book Journey

what i read:

My reviews are HERE and HERE
Both books were fabulous reads.  I have a fangirl crush on Robert Goolrick and I would say that the Bernadette cover is a tad bit cuter than the actual story, yet a very enjoyable read.

what i am reading:

  Product Details

Song of Solomon is Morrison's third novel.  I do believe her style is smoothing out a bit and does not feel nearly as choppy as Sula or The Bluest Eye.

I tried  Love Slave which is suppose to be a shout out to the 1990s.  I was buried in the newlywed and baby mama thing then and I wonder if I just kind of missed the 90s all together.  Is that possible?  Anyone?  Anyway, it was a DNF for me.

The Mostly True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is my in-progress book for the Banned Books week.  You can learn more about that HERE

what i am reading next:

I do believe I'll drop everything for The Casual Vacancy when I get it.

Enjoy your week!

  1. Haha, I love the line about the 90s being a haze because you were a new mama. I think I remember the time period too well...or maybe just the awful clothes...
    Enjoy your books this week!

    1. I think I have the 80s well-remembered and then it's all a blur until the 2000s.

  2. I want to read A Reliable Wife and Where'd You Go Bernadette? Loved the Sherman Alexie book and was thrilled by Into The Darkest Corner. Have a great week of reading.

  3. I am looking forward to The Casual Vacancy but I'm on the waiting list at the library. I hope it lives up to our expectations!

I've heard that the Sherman Alexie book is really good but haven't had a chance to read it. I also want to try Robert Goolrick's books, especially the new one.

    1. Oh - I guess I really do too. I hadn't thought much about that. Do you think it will actually be a different cover but it's being kept under wraps?

    2. Do you think they are keeping the cover under wraps and this is just a pretend cover? I kind of thought that.

    1. I think it will be one of those mother-awakening moments for me. It will change (at least a little bit) they way I think about 14 year old boys and their need for constant mother love.

  18. I graduated in 1991 so the 90's were a bit intense for me ;) and then it was all downhill..
I might have to check out other reviews of Love Slave to see what it's all about. Here's my Monday post.

  19. I've been tasked with helping set up my library's Banned Book Week display case and was so disappointed when I saw that someone had checked out The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. I keep meaning to read it so, since we can't put it in the display case, I figure I'll check it out when the person who has it brings it back.

So glad to be back to blogging and especially to be getting back to reading book blogs again. I'd forgotten how much I loved reading about what other people were reading. Here's my reading list for the week.

  23. Ha ha, the 90's were sorta a blur for me too...busy making babies, etc. Sorry you had a DNF, those are always a bummer.

I'm re-reading Are You There God? It's Me Margaret for Banned Books Week and I'm so excited to do so.

I hope the Rowling is amazing. I'm almost nervous for her, the expectations are pretty high. Did I see that you haven't read any of the Potter books? Am I dreaming? ;)

    1. Not dreaming - all part of that 1990s fog. I missed the Harry craze.

Blubber was my favorite Judy Blume book and Are you there God a very close second.

  28. Your comment on the 90's is parallel to my thinking. It is like I went to sleep one morning in 1989, the I woke up and it was New Year's Eve 2000! Strangely and luckily it seems to have slowed down a little sine then!
