IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

brought to us by Book Journey

Friends Like Us by Lauren Fox - This will be released on February 14, 2012.  I read another of Lauren's books, Still Life With Husband

Go check out my review.  We had a super cool discussion about the book.  I have plans to do something similar with this book sometime soon.

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair - Not looking forward to this one much.  The last time I read it, it put me off meat for several years.  I'm going to try to analyze this from a socialism critical approach.

Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante - I am having big trouble getting into this one.  It's coming close to being an unfinished one.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis - started Chapter 1 with the boy.  Hopefully, we can progress on this one soon.

Mules and Men by Zora Neale Hurston - Hurston is a Harlem Renaissance writer that received much criticism for using folklore in her fiction.  Big Research Project coming up!

Enjoy your week!

  1. Hi Belle: Thanks for stopping by my blog - I'm jealous that you get to be an English lit major. If I had it to do over again...

I enjoyed CS Lewis a lot when I was a teenager, reading him along side Tolkien. I wasn't able to get into Hursten, I should try again some day, happy reading, Ruby

  3. I didn't love Turn of Mind as much as I hoped I would. While I thought the loss of memory was portrayed well, the mystery fell flat for me.
How fun that you are reading Narnia with your little guy! My son is only four, but I look forward to doing that with him when he is older.

  4. I look forward to reading your insight on Chronicles of Narnia and Mules and Men (which I have not before heard of). Thanks for stopping by my IMM today!

  5. Lindsey - I have a really hard time quitting books but I might just do it. It seems to be trying too hard to be a bestseller and flopping in the process.

  8. I started the Jungle, but it just was too depressing. Analyzing it in a different light might be just the ticket to make it interesting.
