INTERVIEW WITH 7TH GRADE READER

A candid interview between A Mom and Her Boy upon reading The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis together:



MOM:  What did you like about the book?

BOY:  I like how it was about magical, you know the rings and stuff and you could travel to any world you wanted by just like jumping in a pond where you never get wet.

MOM:  Who was your favorite character and why?

BOY:    Let's see.  All the characters are so good, right?

MOM:   Yah.

BOY:    Probably Digory.

MOM:  I don't know, I liked the witch as a character (funning with the boy a little here).

BOY:  The witch is just stupid.  She take's an apple from the tree and doesn't read the sign.

MOM:  Why do you like Digory?

BOY:  Because he sounds like me or how I would be in those days.

MOM:  What did  you think about Aslan?

BOY:     Aslan was awesome because he created Narnia. 

MOM:  What did you think about Heaven and God and its similarity with Aslan and Narnia?

BOY:  Like, that's probably how earth was made, like how he sang the song right?

MOM:  Mm-hmm.  Thumbs up or thumbs down then?

BOY:  Thumbs up.

MOM:  Why?

BOY:  Okay, because it was, like... what do you mean why?  Why did I give it thumbs up?

MOM:  Yah.

BOY:  Because the book was good.

MOM:  Why was it good?

BOY:  Because, how about because I really loved listening and reading it.

MOM:  That's good.

BOY:  I think it is.  If you don't mind, I'm going to go in my bear cave now.

MOM:  Okay, thanks for your time boy.
