IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Brought to us by Book Journey

SINCE LAST TIME:

Iron Lake: A Novel (Cork O'Connor) You Believers

Very different but very good reads - both of them!  Check my reviews out  Here and Here.

I also participated in the Bout of Books Read-A-Thon with (drum roll please) a total number of pages read:  377.  This equaled 1 book finished, 1 book read cover to cover and 1 book started.  All in all, given my crazy week, I am happy with my results.

What's happening this week at BookBelle:

Shame the Devil (Excelsior Editions)The Annotated Pride and Prejudice

I am reading Shame the Devil by Debra Brenegan.  My review will be posted on September 13, as part of a Pump Up Your Books book tour.  This book is really quite good.  It's about a historically famous columnist, Fanny Fern.  Fanny is a pioneer women that lived way before her time.

Pride and Prejudice is being read as part of my Courtship and Seduction literature class.  You will see bits and pieces of that class posted here throughout the Fall trimester.  Afterall, I'm going to have to share all of my enlightenment with someone!

Next Week at BookBelle (If I'm still alive):

Jane Eyre (Readable Classics)My Mother the Man Eater

Jane Eyre will be read for Courtship and Seduction class and My Mother the Man-Eater by Tracy Krauss will be read for pure and simple escapism (although, perhaps, there will be some good Courtship and Seduction found in this book too!)

Enjoy your reads everyone!

  1. I love the classics. Pride and Prejudice is a great read and I'm almost finished Jane Eyre.

  4. I don't I've ever read any of those classics. I might have to try them. Maybe as an adult I'll have a better appreciation for them. Good job on yor read-a-thon.

  5. Sounds like you have some good reading plans ahead. Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice are two of my favourites. Hope you enjoy. I answered your question about George R. R. Martin on my comments page. Basically I don't think you have to like fantasy to enjoy it. I think if you like historical or sagas you would get something out of it. The characters are fantastic too. I would say try the first 100 or so pages and if you don't like it after that then maybe it isn't for you. Hope that helps.

  6. I love the look of Shame the Devil - it looks like a very old book. It also sounds interesting, I love reading about characters that are before their time.
